If your into eid and your into sweets then this is perfect for you. You will love these because they taste like short bread except they have a arab twist to them. You can decorate them! I used these small sugar balls that come in silver, blue and pink, and I also used icing sugar.
1 cup ghee fat
1 cup of icing sugar
4 cups of flour
extra icing sugar for decorating.

ReplyDeleteAssalamo 3alaykom wr wb sis,
ReplyDeleteOooh could you post a recipe for mamoul??
Salaam Sister,
ReplyDeleteI use this recipe for Kahk adding 1 packet of dry active yeast in a 1/4 cup of hot water. Optional: a handful of toasted sesame seeds mixed in, or dates or honey for filling)
For Ghorayeba, I actually have a different recipe that uses salted butter and 1/2 the flour as in yours:
1 cup butter, 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 cups all-purpose flour. Cream the butter for 15-20 min (using a mixer) fold in the sugar & beat for 5 more minutes, slowly add flour while beating (you may need less flour) Shape into 1 inch balls, place on cookie sheet and press slightly in the center, either by a candy pearl, a clove, a piece of slivered almond or just your finger. Bake at 300 Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. They should not be brown, but a little hard and easy to move off the sheet. Enjoy!
